Accepting Award, Paul McCartney offer ‘Michelle’ For Obama

paul-reutersFormer Beatle, Paul McCartney get Gershwin Prize, the highest award in the category of pop music in the United States (U.S.). The song ‘Michelle’ sung by Paul in concert award by President Barack Obama.

The award at the White House, Washington DC, lively Wednesday (06/02/2010) evening local time. Obama was joking and Paul responded with a compliment. Gershwin Prize awarded by the Library of Congress. The award was named for U.S. songwriter duo of brothers, George and Ira Gershwin (The Gershwin Brother), whose collections are stored in the library.

The Gershwin Prize was created and first awarded by the Library of Congress under the leadership of James H. Billington in 2007. The award is in recognition of the positive and profound impact on popular music culture of the world. As well as part of the mission Librabry Congress to recognize and celebrate creativity.

Paul is the third musician to receive this award. Received the first Award in 2007 Paul Simon and Stevie Wonder in 2009. Paul was the first person outside the U.S. who receive the award. Obama makes it as one ingredient in Paul’s expense. In the submission of the award, Paul had to sing a few songs of The Beatles. One of the songs the band from Liverpool, ‘Michelle’ Paul is dedicated to Obama’s wife, Michelle Obama.

In addition, ‘Eleanor Rigby’, and ‘Got to Get You Into My Life’ is also a song that get a rousing welcome at the White House. At that time, Obama called Paul as the most proficient musician who writes songs in the history of world music.
