How many episodes of Coronation Street or Celebrity Fit Club have you missed because of your work schedule? Was there a time that you wished you had a TV right on your office desk? Well, days like these will be over now with your Samsung smartphone that runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Jelly Bean, and Ice Cream Sandwich operating systems. The Korean smartphone brand has recently sealed a deal with ITV that will make the Android ITV Player app exclusive for Samsung mobile computers. Under the deal, the ITV app will be distributed exclusively by Samsung until August 31. The agreement between the two companies will benefit TV viewers more. The new ITV app interface is set to have improved playback experience that has simpler video profiles that is supported over 3G/4G. It will be available on Galaxy S4, the Galaxy Note 8.0, and the Galaxy Mega.
With ITV Android Player app, there’s more ways for you to entertain yourself other than Facebook, Twitter, foxybingo games, and YouTube. You can now catch up with all the episodes of your favorite TV shows even when you are in a place where TV is prohibited. The application is now available and is free of charge to download from the Google Play Store and Samsung Apps.
Expect better mobile TV in the future as Samsung and ITV promised to improve their services. ITV Online Product Director James Micklethwait said “The fragmentation of the Android ecosystem is well known therefore, as a commercial broadcaster, it makes sense for us to partner with the leading manufacturer of Android devices to further increase our technical knowledge of the operating system. We plan to launch the app onto other Android devices in the future.”
For Samsung’s part, the company is very happy that it was approached by the TV network giant in its aim to keep people satisfied with their entertainment needs. Simon Stanford, Samsung UK’s vice president for IM Division said that the company is committed in “providing our customers with the latest range of content and apps” given how badly people want to catch up with favorite ITV programs.
